SAAS promotes scholarhip in American Studies for its members, at all stages of the academic career, through a wide range of aids, grants, and awards. Three of these awards are named after notorious SAAS members who have been influential figures in the development, promotion and difussion of American Studies in Spain (professors Felix Martín, Javier Coy and Carme Manuel) while two others involve scholarship collaborations with Spanish institutions that foster the study of the United States in transdisciplinary ways ( Instituto Franklin – Universidad de Alcalá, and the Fulbright Commission ). “Washington Irving” Aid
The Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamericanos “Benjamin Franklin” at Universidad de Alcalá (Instituto Franklin-UAH) offers the “Washington Irving” aid to assist SAAS members with their research in the field of American Studies. The aid covers a research stay of 15 days at the Instituto Franklin-UAH venue during July or the first two weeks of September. Read More.

The Spanish Association for American Studies (SAAS) and the Commission for Cultural, Educational and Scientific Exchange between the United States of America and Spain (Fulbright) offer a grant for postdoctoral study in the United States. Read more.
“Felix Martín” Best Thesis in American Studies Award
This award is intended to recognize excellent doctoral theses by SAAS members. The endowment of this award is 500 €. Read More.
“Javier Coy” Biennial Research Awards
SAAS wishes to recognize the research achievements of its members through the Javier Coy Biennial Research Awards. The goal of these awards is to promote high-quality scholarship in the field of American Studies, and to celebrate the originality and excellence of research carried out within SAAS. All SAAS members are eligible to submit work in the following categories: Best Monograph, Best Journal Article, Best Edited Volume, Best REN Article. Read more.
“CARME MANUEL” young scholar Award
The award recognizes junior scholars who demonstrate promising scholarly contributions to U.S. studies with their active academic careers. Awards are granted biannually, coinciding with the celebration of SAAS conferences, and will be announced at the general assembly. Read More.
